Welcome to Region 3 Kentucky

Meet your Region 3
VP of Communications
Sami Smith
Breckinridge County High School

Sami Smith is a junior at Breckinridge County High School where this is her first year in DECA.  She discovered she is entrepreneurial in nature and, embracing the marketing pathway, has jumped right into DECA.  She ha past leadership experience as a committee chairman with a previous CTSO as well as being part of the junior parliamentary procedure team that, unfortunately, didn’t get to compete because of COVID.  Sami is a three-year starter on the BCHS varsity golf team.  Because of her dedication and time devoted to practice and lessons, she played the number one position most of the 20-21 season.  Rounding out Sami’s interests are participating in the horse club and art club through 4-H.  She is also an active participant in her church’s youth group.  She polished her customer service skills this summer working at the local golf course and was also the assistant golf coach during the summer youth clinics.

Sami is the youngest of a set of triplets.  Her oldest brother is two minutes older than her, and the middle triplet, Taylor, is the BCHS DECA chapter president and Region 3 VP of Membership.

This is Lucas's fourth year as a DECA member in the John Hardin Chapter. Over those four years, he has been on leadership teams and in other clubs and organizations, but DECA has been the most valuable experience. The skills he has gained from DECA will help when he goes to college for Aviation Management — as well as during his future career. He looks forward to meeting you all this year!

Taylor Smith is a junior at Breckinridge County High where he has been an active DECA member for two years and has placed first in his events at the regional and state levels each of his two competitive years.  Although ICDC was cancelled his freshmen year, he did participate virtually during his sophomore year.  As he begins his third year in DECA, he is his local chapter's president and serves as Region 3's VP of Membership.  This summer, Taylor participated in the regional/state officer workshop held in Richmond.  Aside from DECA, Taylor is a four-year member of the BCHS Tiger marching band and plays alto sax.  Additionally, Taylor is a three-year member of the BCHS academic team with an expertise in social sciences.  He was one of only 24 selected from the state to participate in the McConnell Leadership Academy (MLA) during the summer of 2021.  Taylor has also participated in the 4-H Cured Ham project for four years, and he enjoys NASCAR.  Taylor is the middle child of a set of triplets, with a brother one minute older than he and a sister one minute younger than he.
